The company was founded by the Malijević brothers’ decision in July 1991 in Kotor Varoš, with a desire to continue the tradition of wood processing started by their father and grandfather in 1990s. Starting from a small sawmill with several employees and continuing in the 25 years of its existence, Fagus founded 8 companies that are now members of the Fagus Group, with more than 400 employees.

In 2003, Vrbanja Šume, the company dealing with exploitation of forests and construction of forest roads, became the first member of the Fagus Group. In the next ten years, until 2013, all the other profit centres have become independent companies. In 2014, Arboreko was the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina that obtained the pellet quality certificate ENplus A1 and A2, as a recognition for its efforts, work, constant learning and developing.

One of the significant dates for the Fagus Group development is certainly the time of renovating and upgrading of Bor Petrol, which was completed in October 2016.

The year of 2017 marked many improvements and investments. Construction of a bio-mass power plant was initiated at Nomar in Kneževo as well as the construction of a facility for mass plates under the auspices of Silvastika.

In July 2017, a newly built wellness & spa centre was open at HajdučkeVode in line with the internationally recognized standards.

Today, the Fagus Group is an economic giant, the locomotor of regional development and one of the largest producers in the wood processing sector.
